The Gaslight Anthem

Sink or Swim - rough version (album)

This bootleg 'rough version' of Sink or Swim sounds the same as the release version, which has led some to wonder if it is just a low quality rip.  However, the track order differs, with 'Drive' slotted in as track 2 and 'We Came To Dance' moved to 10.  The track lengths also measure slightly longer than for the release version (eg. Boomboxes and Dictionaries: rough: 3:19, release: 3.11).  Hence, the 'rough version' probably predates the final master.

Bring It On - live 2009 (song)

Performed live on 11 December 2009, at the Wellmont Theatre, Montclair, NJ.  A studio version later appeared on American Slang.  A bootleg recording is known to exist, but this has not been released by its taper.  It is not known whether th2009 live version matches the later studio version.

American Slang sessions

Apart from the songs already released, the band apparenly recorded one additional song and one cover.  The addtional song may or may not be 'She Loves You', which is an iTunes bonus track.  No further details are know.

Here's what Brian had to say in an interview with hear/say (2010).

How many songs did you take into the studio?
Just the ones we were going to record. So 10 and then one extra. We already had done the filtering out of the 20 or so odd songs we wrote. The filter process for us is pretty strong. We usually go into the studio knowing exactly what we’re going to do.

Is it ever hard to filter out a song and let it go?
Oh sure. Sometimes you have something good. Especially the extra track we had this time. It was fighting to be on the record so it was tough to be sober about the whole thing and say "Look, this song doesn't exactly fit so well with the rest of the songs and the other songs communicate with each other in a very organic way and this one feels like it’s a little different." A lot of bands put out b-sides, where it's like they're half-finished demos. I don't want to buy a half-finished demo. So we try our best not to do that. Usually songs get cut pretty early in their life. If we feel like a song isn't holding its weight then it just goes away and most of the time it doesn’t show up again. Most of the time we just cut it clean.

Bring It On - accoustic (song)

Live on KEXP 90.3 Seattle on 12 May 2010 (also available as a boot).  This unrelease accoustic version of 'Boxer' was made available by SideOneDummy in June 2010 in return for 1) uploading a photo of oneself into a special American Slang picture frame, 2) posting the image on one's profile page, eg. Facebook, and 3) emailing the link to SideOneDummy.  In return, a dowload link was provided by email.

Rock Band Network [Xbox 360 - download only]

i. The '59 Sound
ii. Old White Lincoln

These were suppossed to be released in about March 2010 by Harmonix Music Systems Inc., an MTV Networks company, as part of Rock Band Network.  This never happened, but the tracks must still be out there somewhere.  Previews of both songs are available on YouTube (see the videos page).
